South Island Giant Moa, reconstructed at 1:20 scale and hand-painted in polyurethane resin. 160 × 120 mm. Sculpted by J. Miguel Aparicio, made to order.
The tallest bird ever to have lived: females reached 3.6 metres with the neck extended and outweighed males threefold, one of the most extreme size differences known in any bird. Wingless to the point of having no wing bones at all, and extinct within roughly a century of human arrival.
Modelled by hand in heat-hardened clay over a wire armature, moulded in silicone and cast in polyurethane resin. Every copy is cleaned, retouched and painted by hand in acrylics, so no two pieces are ever strictly identical.
Made to order. Each casting is finished individually, so please allow time for preparation before dispatch.
