Commission a piece
Commissions
Alongside the collection I take a limited number of commissions each year. They fall into three kinds, and all of them start with a conversation rather than a price list.
A · A portrait of your pet
A scale sculpture of your own animal, supplied with a personalised card bearing its name. The more photographs you send, the closer the likeness. It began as a commission from my niece — a dog called Chester — and has become the request I receive most often.
B · A species not in the catalogue
If there is an animal you would like modelled and it is not among the pieces on offer, it can be sculpted from scratch. The panther commissioned in 2017, finished to imitate aged iron, came about this way. A limited number of copies of that sculpture are available.
C · Painting figures you already own
I also paint 3D-printed figures by other artists. I have worked on pieces by miniNature, whose models are designed digitally and printed in a range of materials. Send me the figures and they will be returned painted.
How it works
- 1. Tell me what you have in mind. Species or animal, rough size, and what it is for. Photographs help enormously for pet portraits.
- 2. I come back with a proposal. Feasibility, approximate size and scale, price and a realistic timescale.
- 3. The work begins once agreed. For sculptures from scratch, I share progress images along the way.
- 4. Delivery. Packed for fragile transport and shipped to your address.
Before you commission
Commissions are made to your specifications, so under Spanish consumer law they are not covered by the fourteen-day right of withdrawal that applies to catalogue pieces. That is why everything is agreed in detail — and in writing — before any work begins.
Timescales for commissions are longer than for catalogue pieces and are agreed case by case.
