Frozen carcasses recovered from Siberian permafrost preserve the woolly rhinoceros in extraordinary detail, down to the coat and the flattened, blade-like front horn used to sweep snow from vegetation. The reconstruction draws on those specimens, and the hump over the shoulders reflects the tall neural spines of the skeleton.

About this piece

Modelled by hand in heat-hardened clay over a wire armature, moulded in silicone and cast in polyurethane resin. Every copy is cleaned, retouched and painted by hand in acrylics, so no two pieces are ever strictly identical.
