Gelada, male, reconstructed at 1:13 scale and hand-painted in polyurethane resin. 90 × 50 mm. Sculpted by J. Miguel Aparicio, made to order.
The last surviving species of a once widespread genus, confined to the grasslands of the Ethiopian highlands. The male’s cape of long hair and the bare red patch on the chest that gives it the name ‘bleeding-heart baboon’ are the defining features here. Modelled at 1:13, a larger scale that allows the facial detail to read.
Modelled by hand in heat-hardened clay over a wire armature, moulded in silicone and cast in polyurethane resin. Every copy is cleaned, retouched and painted by hand in acrylics, so no two pieces are ever strictly identical.
Made to order. Each casting is finished individually, so please allow time for preparation before dispatch.
